Dr. John’s Chiropractic Story: From Injury to Healing in Sheboygan County
Dr. John’s journey into chiropractic care began right here in Sheboygan County, where he grew up in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. What started as a life-changing injury during his senior year of high school ultimately became the foundation for his passion for helping others heal naturally.
One winter morning at Rochester Park, Dr. John suffered a severe sledding accident that resulted in a fractured vertebra in his spine. The impact forced him into a long recovery, including wearing a rigid plastic brace that extended from his tailbone to his lower neck for an entire month. After the brace was removed, he was told he was “fine” and required no further care.
But he knew something wasn’t right.
Despite being cleared medically, Dr. John continued to experience pain and limitations—an experience that many people with unresolved spinal injuries can relate to. Determined to understand his body and help others, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, initially planning to pursue a career in pre-med or physical therapy.
While still dealing with the lingering effects of his injury, Dr. John was introduced to chiropractic care for the first time. Skeptical but hopeful, he visited a chiropractor in La Crosse—and that decision changed the course of his life.
Through specific chiropractic adjustments, he experienced real relief and healing that he had not found elsewhere. More importantly, he discovered a new understanding of how the spine and nervous system work together to support overall health.
In that moment, Dr. John found his calling.
He went on to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa—the birthplace of chiropractic care—where he immersed himself in the science, philosophy, and art of chiropractic. After graduating in 2003, he returned home to Sheboygan County with a mission: to help others experience the same life-changing results he had.
After gaining experience working in a local clinic, Dr. John founded Better Life Chiropractic & Wellness in April 2007, creating a space focused on natural healing, patient education, and long-term wellness.
In June 2018, Dr. John and his wife took the next step in their vision by purchasing the historic South West State Bank Building. Later that year, in December 2018, they relocated their practice into what is now known as the Better Life Building—a growing hub for health and wellness in Sheboygan.
Today, Dr. John continues to serve individuals and families across Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, and the surrounding communities, helping patients overcome pain, improve function, and live healthier lives through chiropractic care.
Together, Dr. John and his wife are committed to expanding access to holistic health services, creating a space where education, healing, and community come together.
