Meet Dr. John
I am originally from Sheboygan Falls and suffered a severe injury one fateful morning during my senior year of high school. While sledding at Rochester Park, I went off a ramp and landed in a seated position which forever changed my life. An ambulance ride to the hospital ensued as well as the diagnosis of a 'back sprain'. After a week of no school and no less pain, I went back to the hospital and it was found out that I fractured a vertebrae. I was then put into a fitted plastic brace that went from my tailbone to lower neck and had three velcro straps in the front. That brace was worn consistently for the next month except while sleeping. As a funny tidbit, the part of this experience I remember the most was my inability to bend forward at all and being an 18 year old having my Mom help me shower. OY!! After that month, I was told that I was fine and that I didn't have to do anything else.
Wanting to help people, I went to undergrad at UW-La Crosse and was pre-med or physical therapy until I was recommended to see a guy called a Chiropractor. I never heard of Chiropractic before but I ended up seeing one in La Crosse and that doctor changed my life and the lives of everyone I see today as I immediately knew what I wanted to do. I went to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa, where Chiropractic all started, and returned home to make a difference.
I worked at a clinic for a few years and started Better Life Chiropractic and Wellness in April of 2007. I have been honored to be voted 'Best Chiropractor in Sheboygan County' numerous times in the last few years as I am very passionate about allowing everyone to obtain a Better Life.....one that we all deserve.
I have chosen a path to be very well-rounded so that I can help all types of people reach their goals. For example, I hold certifications for golf, whiplash, and nutrition and have extensive training in exercise rehabilitation and exercise training. I believe that health is a combination of physical health, nutrition health and mental health so all of those are addressed at my office.
I also think it is important to give back to the community. I am very involved and you will see me just about everywhere there is some good to do....perhaps even as a lobster in a Sheboygan Parade. :)
I am eager to become your Sheboygan chiropractor!

Dr. John Celebrates 20 Years in Practice!
"Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing me to be in service in this community for 20 years. It has been a blessing."
You will frequently see Dr. John’s wife, Kristi, in the office. Dr. Kristi Shaw Reitz runs our Better Life Zerona Treatment Program and also helps out at the Front Desk.
Prior to meeting Dr. John, Kristi had been to only one chiropractor for a short period of time. Unfortunately, that chiropractor didn’t educate her in chiropractic care. It wasn’t until she was dating Dr. John when she truly understood the importance of chiropractic care and benefited from corrective care. At the time, Kristi was running quite a bit and was experiencing terrible hip pain. She also suffered from plantar fasciitis on and off for about eight years. Fortunately, she was able to find relief through chiropractic care.
Dr. Kristi Reitz earned her PhD in Instructional Design for Online Learning and completed her dissertation on instructional design within iTunes U. She earned her master of arts degree from Marian University in Educational Technology and her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Dr. Reitz has worked in the education field for 15 years. She has spent the bulk of her career in higher education. Prior to her time in higher education, Kristi taught middle school math and spent four years teaching elementary and middle school technology literacy and coaching teachers in technology integration. At Marian University, she served as the Chair of Teacher Education and Program Director of the Educational Technology Program. She taught numerous courses in the Educational Technology Program, as well as the Undergraduate and Graduate Teacher Education Programs. Kristi’s research interests include instructional coaching, technology integration, and instructional design. She has presented at multiple state, national, and international educational conferences throughout her career.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, grocery shopping, cooking, decorating the office, hiking, camping, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, reading, gardening, yoga, and paddle boarding on Lake Michigan. She has also taken up backpacking and is looking forward to spending extended time in the woods!
Eric has been part of the Better Life Team since 2021. He is our Front Desk Coordinator and will help you throughout your care. Eric has always been driven to help others and loves to watch others reach their health goals.
Along with being part of the Better Life Team, Eric is pursuing his Masters of Business Administration at Concordia University. He earned his undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership from UW Green Bay and an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Northcentral Technical College. When he is not at the office, or working out / running, he is likely studying since his education is one of his many passions.
Eric grew up surrounded by chiropractic. He was the “office shredder” at a very young age, helping his mom and other family members shred old medical records in the office they managed. His chiropractic journey comes full circle as he is part of the Better Life Team.
Being a transplant here to Sheboygan, Eric has grown to love the “Lake Life” and Sheboygan as a whole. As a former Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Officer, Eric loves to explore Wisconsin’s beautiful State Parks. He also has a passion for running, staying active, and being outside in nature.
Feel free to let Eric know if you have questions or concerns, he would love to assist you on your path to a Better Life!
Erika joined the Better Life team in March of 2023 as a Chiropractic Assistant. In this role, she looks forward to working with you through the many stages of your care and on your journey to a Better Life!
Outside of the office, Erika is working on her Master's degree in Learning Design and Technology at Purdue University. She earned her bachelor's degree in Special Education and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point. After graduation, Erika taught in central and eastern Wisconsin.
Erika grew up in Fond du Lac and lived in Stevens Point for a few years before recently moving to Sheboygan to enjoy lake life and the beautiful scenery. Erika and her husband enjoy spending their time outdoors hiking, hammocking, and swimming. When not outdoors, Erika enjoys crafting and spending time with her family.
Being new to the area, Erika is enjoying discovering all of Sheboygan's hidden gems. She loves to try new things and see all of what the Malibu of the Midwest has to offer. She looks forward to hearing about your favorite coffee shops, restaurants, and other hidden gems here in Sheboygan.
Erika loves learning about what chiropractic can do to help people and looks forward to working with you in your Better Life journey!
